Cow Girl

I'm off to a barn dance party so I obviously had to go in full country style. I've always felt like there was a Nashville girl somewhere inside of me crying to get out so to say that I enjoyed wearing this outfit would be an understatement. I love the combination of the red and black checkered shirt and brown leather boots. As for the hat, well, I can't exactly see it making a regular appearance but I loved it nonetheless!

Thursday Thoughts: Mañana

Hello. Firstly, I want to apologise for my lack of blogging lately. I've been getting back into the school routine and have found myself quite busy with work. This means having to prioritise the most important things on my psychological to do list (I should really make one) and quite frankly, 'new blog post' was something I kept finding myself pushing to one side. 

Procrastination. Something I have become so skilled at in the past couple of weeks. I can't quite figure out whether I'm actually tired or if it's just the thought of working that exhausts me. Nevertheless, my work ethic is poor and I need to get back into the swing of things. What better way to motivate myself than to start a new blogging series? I introduce you to Thursday Thoughts. 

I have realised though that it's OK to be a little bit lazy sometimes. We're not machines that are able to accomplish every task and do it perfectly. Sure, I'd like to have enough motivation right now to do my science homework but I'm not going to beat myself up because I've chosen to blog instead. 

So, for those of you who are struggling to keep up with life at the moment, I have one word. A spanish word in fact - mañana. It means 'tomorrow' or 'not today' which is basically the Spanish's extremely chilled and laid-back concept of "I'll get round to it when I feel like it." So go take a chill pill and think about all of the things you should be doing but are choosing not to whilst watching rubbish T.V and eating junk food.

Get the Look: Million Dollar Eyes

Start with an eyeshadow primer or light gel-cream eyeshadow. I used Maybelline Colour Tattoo in 35 On and on Bronze. Then apply Maybelline Colour Tattoo Pure Pigments in 50 Forest Fatale (a khaki green shimmer eyeshadow) all over the lid. Blend a light shimmery brown in the outer crease and wing it out. I am using Smog from the Urban Decay Naked Palette 1 (all of the eyeshadows I used were from that palette).

 Taking Darkhorse, a darker shimmery brown, blend that in the crease on top of Smog but don't extend it out as much. This way the eyeshadows will work as a gradient and blend seamlessly. Next, blend Darkhouse in the outer corner of the crease for even more depth.

I then added Half Baked (a shimmery gold) to the inner corner/tearduct and the centre of the lid. Doing this will open the eye up. 

To add some intensity, I lined my waterline and tightline with a black eye pencil. I then applied a generous amount of liquid eyeliner and winged it out. I also put the previous eyeshadows used under my bottom lash line in a gradient from darkest to lightest and finished with lots of Loreal Telescopic mascara. 

And that's the finished eye look. Just out of interest, do you guys prefer to be taken through thoroughly step by step when it comes to makeup tutorials or are you a fan of the more laid-back 'girl-to-girl' chatting style?

KIKO Cosmetics Haul & First Impressions

I've always wandered past KIKO and been hypnotised by the gorgeous array of colours and the uniformed stacks of products. I've usually found myself to carry on walking though, for no particular reason, until last week when I decided to bite the bullet and have a peruse. 

It seemed like all of the products claimed to do something 'impressive' to say the least, and what I was most surprised at was the extremely affordable prices. I managed to get all three products for under £15, believe me, I could have bought more!

I thought I would show you the things I picked up along with my impressions if you are interested in buying them too.

Street Fashion Eyeshadow Palette - 02 Addictive Song - £5

I was instantly attracted to the rich and luxurious colours in this eyeshadow palette and thought it would make a great staple for Autumn. The cream and burgundy eyeshadows are both shimmers and the rest are matte with a slightly creamy consistency. This means they are easy to apply and very blendable. 

Tazzy was obviously keen!

The pigmentation of the lighter colours is good and you only need a wash or two over the eyes. The darker colours however are a little more sheer and need to be built up for a more intense colour. I don't see this as a negative though, as for me, this palette is very much for the daytime and so I'm not looking anything too 'in yer face'. My only criticism is that the eyeshadow is easily rubbed off. After some heavy weight-lifting, (joke intended) all of my arm swatches were near to gone! I suppose eyeshadow isn't for arms though so I wouldn't let that put you off. Perhaps just try a good eye primer underneath. Here is a quick look I pulled together to demonstrate how the eyeshadows could be worn. 

Glow Touch Lips & Cheeks - 103 Heavy Honeysuckle -£4

This cheek and lip stain is perfect if you are searching for a natural looking blush because the subtle pink just adds a really pretty hint of colour to the cheeks. The creamy consistency isn't as heavy as a powdered blush and leaves the skin looking dewy and fresh. Perfect for school!

Cleansing Light Oil Makeup Remover

I've been in search of a cleanser/makeup remover for a while now as I'm guilty of always using baby wipes to remove my make up. I didn't have any trouble with baby wipes other than the fact that I felt like they were stripping my skin of its goodness. I only used them because I thought I was saving time and I'm lazy! The truth is though, this makeup remover from KIKO is actually a much quicker way of removing makeup because the oils are more effective (meaning the makeup dissolves quicker) and best of all, its kinder to skin! I certainly am never going back to my old ways! This makeup remover actually feels like a treat for the skin as it is so moisturising. I probably wouldn't recommend this for oily skin though because you're just adding more oils the face. I actually got this for a reduced price (around the £4 mark - amazing!) so I'm not sure if it is still the same price or currently available as I had trouble finding it online. KIKO offer plenty of amazing make up removers similar to this one though.





Overall, I think I was successful in my purchases. I hope some of you have benefited from this and who knows, I might have even persuaded you to pick something up for yourself!
